Does your company have a mobile-friendly website? If yes, keep reading for some useful information. If not, you’re
If not, you’re really going to want to keep reading so that you can fully understand just how important mobile-friendly websites are for search engine optimization (SEO) and search results ranking.
How mobile-friendly your website is has become even more important to your bottom line since more than half of Google’s searches happen on mobile devices. That’s more than 100 billion searches a month.
Mobile-Friendly Creates an Experience
To improve how people experience the web on their mobile devices, Google has been working on incorporating accelerated mobile pages (AMP) technology into its search results since February of 2016. AMPs are pages that adhere to open source specifications (meaning the HTML code is written in a way that maximizes tags and other elements).
What valid AMP does is allow for websites to universally appear across different types of browsers and screens, which makes it easy for any viewer, anywhere to get the information your company is trying to share with them.
A noticeable benefit is that these AMP mobile pages load three to four times faster than non-AMP-ready pages.
What does that mean for you and your business?
You need AMP.
Your company needs AMP for a lot of reasons, not least of which is that Google is on board with it, keeps rolling out bigger and better acceptance on it, and favors it within their algorithm. This gives you an advantage over your competitors who haven’t implemented this…yet. Jump on board and get your website in front of customers before your competition does it first.
If your company’s small or medium-sized business does not have a mobile-friendly, AMP-ready website, that should be step one.
Speak with your marketing team or web development staff to start that process immediately. There are also some good resources out there detailing how to do it yourself, including a WordPress AMP plugin.
